Combined workshop for the Ethiopian and the Curaçao project in which Drs. Runy Calmera explained the use of a Macroabc model in practice.

March 2003 The Netherlands

In this period 3 economists from the Ministry of Finance of Indonesia visited MMC headquarters to discuss the Macroabc MODFI model and to receive additional training. The following picture was taken during one of the workshops that took place in this two-week period.

February 2003 Curaçao

Students on a secondary school use the Macroabc model Curalyse in their economy lessons.

 

November 2002 Kenya

In this period 2 economists from KIPPRA in Kenya visited MMC headquarters to discuss the Macroabc KTMM model and to receive additional training. The following pictures were taken during some of the workshops that took place in this week.

In this workshop Drs. Bas van Tuijl presented MicromacroSimDemo to the participants. Bas van Tuijl joined MMC in 2001. Since then he has worked on a broad range of projects, including monitoring, MicromacroSim, updating Macroabc-NL, a research for branche organisations in the Netherlands, Antiltax and a Macroabc Study module.


November 4th 2002.

Dr. Free Huizinga is the former head of the Model Constructing Division and is now head of the Sectoral Analysis at the CPB. He joined two MMC visits to KIPPRA, Nairobi, Kenya as MMC consultant. In this workshop Dr. Free Huizinga discussed the nature of the work, including forecasting, at the CPB in the Netherlands and the KIPPRA participants were able to correlate with the nature of research and modeling experience at the institute. It emerged that there were several similarities between the kind of work done by the two institutions.

August 2002 Curaçao

On the other hand, In case it becomes to much for you, perhaps you can get some support from your wife, because for her this economic materials will be a 'piece of cake'."

This workshop by Drs. Barthold Kuipers, Short Term Division of the CPB, focused on the actualization of macro models with preliminary actual figures.

July 11th 2002.

Drs. Gerard van Welzenis, an expert in international monitoring and long term analyses of the CPB, used this workshop to explore the long term properties of MODFI together with the participants.

In this workshop Dr. Andrzej Tabeau, a former MMC consultant in the Polish Macroabc project, introduced some alternative closure rules for macro-economic models.

Dr. Herman Stolwijk wrote his Phd. on a general equilibrium model of Bangladesh, he now is the head of the Agricultural Division at the CPB of the Netherlands In this workshop the possible role of AFTA in Indonesian macro modeling was discussed.

Dr. Johan Verbruggen wrote a Phd. with the title: "From Macro to Meso, A Trend in Dutch economic modelling", he now works as the head of the Shorth Term Division at the CPB of the Netherlands. In this workshop Dr. Johan Verbruggen explained the short-term forecasting as it is done at the CPB in the Netherlands, the origin of forecasting errors and the strengths of a quarterly macro-economic model.

In this workshop Dr. Marcel Lever, who is the head of the Income and Prices Division at the CPB of the Netherlands explained the forecasting and monitoring of inflation is done at the CPB in the Netherlands.

Drs. Michiel Vergeer currently works as a fiscal expert at the Statistic Bureau of the Netherlands, before this he was the head of the Fiscal Division of the CPB. In 2000 and 2001 he worked as a short term MMC consultant in Jakarta. In this workshop he discussed fiscal variants and their effect on public expenditure and revenue in the Indonesian Macroabv model MODFI with the participants.
